The build error on sparc looks like a temporary problem with the build daemon. I have started a build on my sparc, but the NMU you proposed should also work. Also because I am in holidays, and I can't guarantee that I will be able to an upload in the next few days (though it was possible for me to connect to the Internet almost every last day).
