FWIW, some (if not all) powerpc and arm buildd's are running 2.4 kernels, and the libc now needs at least a 2.6.1 to build _and_ run. Support for 2.4 kernels has been dropped altogether.
It seems that someone uploaded (not us glibc maintainers) a hand-built package for powerpc, that _will_ make the ppc buildd explode as soon as anyone will ask for a glibc 2.5 binary package (like locales or a recent libc). I know that some arm buildd have been (or are soon to be) upgraded, I'd suggest to upgrade those who aren't ASAP. (btw it seems that other $archs are not hit, but if that's the case, feel free to bounce this mail to appropriate buildd's admins).
