Package: libc-bin Version: 2.13-24 Severity: normal File: /sbin/ldconfig Lately, whenever the ldconfig trigger runs, I see a warning like this:
ldconfig: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6.0.16-gdb.py is not an ELF file - it has the wrong magic bytes at the start. The file in question is from libstdc++6-4.6-dbg (>= 4.6.2-6), and (as the name suggests) is a Python script for use with GDB in connection with libstdc++.so.6.0.16, and is thus not *supposed* to be an ELF file. Any other file with a name ending in "-gdb.py" presumably plays the same role for another library. (Run `info "(gdb) objfile-gdb.py"' or visit <http://sourceware.org/gdb/onlinedocs/gdb/objfile_002dgdb_002epy-file.html> for details.) Thus, ldconfig should probably ignore these files, and should certainly not expect them to be in ELF format. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- no debconf information -- Hi!
