Sorry, I haven't seen the spam in my mbox as it has been filtered somewhere. The bug is really fixed in squeeze, wheezy, jessie, and so on and marked as such in the BTS, however it was indeed not formally closed. I don't really know the difference between a bug marked fixed in all versions and a bug closed, except maybe that it get archived in the latter case.
