It implements the standard Language Server Protocol so it can be used with other IDEs as well. The Arduino language server is very useful as a standalone tool with any text editor supporting LSP, like Neovim for example. This will probably be maintained by the electronics team on salsa, at https://salsa.debian.org/electronics-team/arduino/arduino-language-server (if Matthias or Christopher can create the repo, as I don't have the rights).
