Ok, but I won't package new versions, I can just recompile
packages. So a fair check would be if the slink versions are behind
the potato ones.

Could you also make your programm just output the NOK packages? this
is easier to read.

It is called python-gnome in Debian, and it is at version 1.0.2

It is called gnome-users-guide-en and is version 1.0. Iam not mad
enough to call a package users-guide :-)
