Where did I put that time machine? :-) On Sat, Nov 17, 2001 at 09:53:06PM +1100, Jeff Waugh wrote: > I've spoken to Ben and Christian about having GNOME CVS access, to > put /debian directories in CVS. In fact, it can be rather awkward, and difficult to manage properly. To be used effectively, a lot of the files in /debian would need to be updated automatically by either the automake or autoconf tools. Setting this up to work right is non-trivial at this point. (Even for some less-than-100% definition of "right".) I have one package, WMRack, which I maintain completely: both the "upstream" sources and the Debian packages. But so far, I have found it much easier to keep my "upstream" sources completely free of any debian stuff. And that's on a one-man project. That's not to say that it can't be done -- in fact, it was done for (IIRC) most of gnome 1.0. But I don't think it was done well, and I'd rather not repeat the experiment unless it can be made to work better this time. -- Chris Waters | Pneumonoultra- osis is too long [EMAIL PROTECTED] | microscopicsilico- to fit into a single or [EMAIL PROTECTED] | volcaniconi- standalone haiku
