Spot on. Debian has never required the use of a specific WM for gnome and should avoid it. Sawfish and Metacity should go no further than the "Recommends" line. On a second note I have noticed that in Gnome 1.4 the gnome-session manager has a nasty habit of plopping user processes outside of the respective user's process tree. This is terribly annoying and seems out of line when compared to the other session managers. Does Gnome2 exhibit the same behavior, and are there any thoughts on the matter? Sorry to bring it up but it has been eating at me for quite some time.
