ok, so the steps would be.
1. check if RENDER is working. (xdpyinfo | grep RENDER)
2. check if freetype is installed
3. edit the .xftconfig
4. place "export GDK_USE_XFT=1" before
the execution of "gnome-session" in your .xinitrc
