If you are wanting to try, i will walk you trough it, and we can look at other solutions if you want. I strongly discourage you of using fr_FR.utf8, since all kind of things break if you do so, but fr_FR.iso-8859-15 (or whatever that is named) should work fine, well it does for me. I can even provide french guidance if you want. So, first provide information about your system : o go to applications -> preferences du bureau -> polices and tell us what you have there. o send us a copy of the output of env in any shell.
