Font stuff is a very well problem nowdays. I have a few proposals that
will let users enjoy the Gnome 2 eXPerience ;) without breaking their
heads:

1- XftConfig should contain defoma directories by default.
2- XF86Config-4 Files section should add by default those
directories and "unix/:7110" for those useres that make use of xfs-xtt to
serve fonts.
3- gnome package should add GDK_USE_XFT=1 to /etc/envirovment by
default, or, at least, ask the user via debconf.
4- /usr/bin/gnome-wm should only tries to launch metacity or
sawfish, because they are the only WM suported by g2. Using g2 with twm is
very disgusting, trust me.

What do you think about those things? Where they should be reported as
whishlists bugs?

  Bye!
