Hi,

I had a look at the gdm2 session initialization scripts -- my problem
was gdm2 didn't set GDK_USE_XFT=1. And I didn't want to edit the system
wide session init scripts.

I discovered that gdm2 executes ~/.gnomerc upon startup. So I just put
"export GDK_USE_XFT=1" in this file, restarted gdm, logged in and had
aa'd fonts. -- nice.

This can be used to work-around some simular gdm2-initialization
problems.
