Hey, i have a box running gnome 1.4 and Woody (r1). I wanted to upgrade to Gnome 2, but still keep my woody.
So i went to the http://people.debian.org/~walters/gnome2.html page and added the korrect lines to sources.list Then i did a "apt-get update; apt-get install gnome". Then i got the mentioned "Hang on splash screen" syndrome, so i killed all gnome-related processes, and deleted the /tmp/orbit-<name> dir.. and tried to start X again, but the same thing happened?? (i have also tried doing a "apt-get dist-upgrade", but no luck) What do i do wrong? Regards /smurfd
