Evolution 1.2 doesn't use the cool GNOME2 smoothed fonts, and neither does Mozilla unless you have an XFT/GTK2 build. This might explain the jagged/blocky problems. ;-) Basically, any GTK1.2 app won't use the GNOME2 font settings. Redhat has a patch for this, I think, but neither Debian nor GNOME-proper uses it. (Which is silly, I think - it's a feature that shoul dbe there...)
