Hi: I am settingup a few machines with Gnome 2.2. I installed stable 3.0r1 and then did a dist-upgrade to unstable. Then I did 'apt-get install gnome' to install Gnome 2.2.
When I started Gnome (gnome-session), it started with TWM as the window manager. I put the following line in .xinitrc: metacity & exec gnome-session But this resulted in a 4 minute delay. The Gnome log on logo comes and then sits with the Window Manager icon for some time before continuing. Is there something else to be done for it. Also, I installed my TTF fonts by inserting the font path in ~/.xftconfig file. Is this the correct way? I want ti install the development libraries also. Both for GTK and GNOME 2.2. Would apt-get install gnome-core-deve all that I have to do? Thanks in advance. -Dinesh
