No-- I am the gnome2.2 backport maintainer-- you are using my packages and so am I. > > If someone knows of a j2re1.4 that works on woody, I'd be interested. > > I have made my own debian packages from sun binaries if you are > interested. > Are they apt-gettable? > > > > Is it possible it is an esound problem? Any non-gnome applications need to be configured to use esd (eg, xmms has an esd plugin). If they can't be configured to use esd, then do: esdctl off ; yourapp ; esdctl on esdctl makes esd free the soundcard. Depending on your soundcard, you may want to try the alsa drivers. Just last night I debugged gnome hangs on my wife's laptop-- she has an i810_audio chipset, and the in kernel driver would keep hanging. I could trigger the problems by having gnome sounds enabled, then toggled a gnome checkbox (ie something that triggered a sound event) as fast as I could. Installed alsa 0.9.6 (I've been using 0.9.4 on my laptop with great success) and no matter how fast or how long I toggled that checkbox, it didn't hang. > 2 - Gnome sound recorder crashes when trying to execute it. > Yes. known bug. It is basically unusable for everyone. Apparently it is on upstream's todo list.
