I see the same problem, after having installed fred's unofficial 
gnome2.4 packages. It seems they all depend on libbonobo2-0 >= 1:2.4.0, 
so all 2.4.x versions will fail to install (or desinstall all gnome2.4). 
It seems we are stuck with a nonfunctional gnome until all official 2.4 
packages trickle down :/
