I've had similar issues with the splash screen. It also covers any dialogs. For example firestarter has a gksu dialog that is covered by the splash screen. The splash screen seems to "freeze up" if you don't know to blindly type in the password. A while ago I tried looking for it in BTS. I didn't see anything and haven't had the time to pursue it any further. digger
