I've talked with gnome guys about this. Backporting the new version to gnome2.4 should not be too hard (the callbacks need to be adapted). BTW could you first upload a fixed package for the i18n, you just need to remove this line in smb-method.c: textdomain (GETTEXT_PACKAGE); Cheers, Sebastien Bacher
