well as i understand this right now, its up to the distributions and administrators to come up with a workable solution for large scale system deployment. which, oh joy, will lead to a myriad ways of reinventing the wheel. as a open source desktop administrator in a working environment where people cut/edit audio files for radio shows i stumbled across this roadblock too. the panel menu needs a serious rework, as there is no way to maintain it, order it hierarchically apart the alphabetical listing, or introduce own menus without obscure hassles. gnome developers should come up with something to solve such issues, and not give all work to system administrators, telling us it is not gnome's but our problem. markus
