Well, I did not have gnome-themes-extras installed.... It appears as if gnome-themes-extras is a "suggested" package for gnome and gnome-themes, and I did not install it. Maybe it needs to be upgraded to "reccomends" or maybe even "depends"?
After installing gnome-themes-extras, the icon has appeared.
