This failure is caused by the new default of -threaded in the pandoc
executable.  It wouldn't hurt to remove '-threaded', as pandoc currently
isn't written in such a way that it would run faster on multiple cores.
Or '-threaded' could be removed selectively for sparc architecture.
(I think this can be done via a command-line option to cabal...)
