I tried typing apt-cache search kernel-image-2.4.20 at the prompt, but I got no output. What do I have to do before that? 2. I assume that, since my machine is old - i.e. a 715/100 - that I would need to use either kernel-image-2.4.20-32 or kernel-image-2.4.20-32-smp. Am I correct? If so, what is the difference between these two? 3. Could you point me to a detailed set of instructions for downloading and installing the chosen kernel? Thanks, Jaime
