Look on www.parisc-linux.org mailing list for kernel related stuff. (no ban on talking about it in debian-hppa, just more of the right people on the other list) I've used other NICs besides DEC 21143 based (tulip driver). IIRC, they were Intel 8259[7890] based with eepro100 driver. Worst case is you will crash your box if you try one and it doesn't work. Not a big deal. Use ext3. If you want to pursue it a bit further, see the FAQ on how to report kernel crashes to the m-l list. Often, it doesn't take many lines of code change to get a driver working on a new arch. grant
