I am also getting good results with the current 64-bit SMP kernel. I have an RP5470 booting and running just fine with 2.6.26-2-parisc64-smp. If you want to "watch it in action" have a look at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5112458 It also serves a remote desktop in 24 bit color just fine :-).
