I've finished my math exam, so I'll take up the hurd work again. You should probably test dpkg on a Debian Linux system before trying the hurd port, there are some differences. If you have questions about the hurd port of dpkg, you're welcome. It needs a recompile, and some clean up, but in the moment I'm focusing on the bootstrap of the base system (we need a shell that can run scripts, alas, the only current shell "sash" does not run any scripts).
