That's common if nfs couldn't start up properly. If you set it as an active translator, then you will be able to see the error messages. Incidentally, these are hurd help questions you are posting; they should be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (debian-hurd is specifically for the Debian Hurd stuff, and people should avoid posting generic Hurd questions or problems here.)
