my $0.02:

Personally, I am heavily into XML at work.  I'd like to leverage anything
I do there to help with Hurd documentation.

I have used TeX etc. since 1984.  I have tried texinfo, linux-doc-sgml, etc
etc.  I strongly disagree with GNU's "no man-pages" philosophy.  Sometimes
I want a man page, sometimes I want "info"-style docs, sometimes I want a
print out.  XML (or SGML, or <whatever>) would allow combined 'man' and 'info'
documentation so that the end-user can choose.  Gnome is already using
XML as a standard file format.
