Hello, > at last I've installed the hurd properly (thanks to who helped me). But I > would like to comment/ask some things:
Okay ! I'll answer those I can: > - The keyboard doesn't works properly (I'm spanish). What I have to do? > - I can't see latin1 characters. > - I can't see colors; why ? (ls --color doesn't work and escape secuences > too). The mach console is not very well developed yet. If you telnet to your Hurd machine in e.g. xterm you can see colours etc, but not on the console. > - When will be ready boot disks for installation? Who knows? This doesn't seem to be a priority as most people run some other OS besides the Hurd that they can install from. > - Are there several consoles as in linux, with alt+f1, alt+f2... ? No. > - df doesn't works. (I think it says that it can't read filesystems > information). I have the same problem. > - If I want to compile my own kernel, can I do it under linux? Yes, but setting up a cross-compilation environment is not worth the trouble, as Marcus told me earlier and yet I decided to discover it from experience :) On the other hand, recompiling GNUMach under the Hurd is pretty easy. Best of luck with the Hurd, Pontus -- Pontus Lidman, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Development & support manager No matter how cynical you get, it's impossible to keep up.
