All the tests I've done with 'fsck -pw --debug' and 'e2fsck -p /dev/hd2s2' were done right after a boot in single-user mode with a clean root filesystem (no message before the hurd server bootstrap). The original problem was when I boot in multi-user mode with a clean root filesystem (no message before the hurd server bootstrap) fsck crashs systematically. I have just try several times to boot in multi-user mode with a dirty root filesystem (there is the message before hurd server bootstrap) and fsck always worked. Bye, Gwenael
