Booting oddities

Thanks for the emails about my booting problem.  However,
it turns out that for whatever reason my /boot directory
is really (when booting hurd) /bootAB
where A is a solid rectangle and B is a smiley face....
That's why I got file not found on /boot/gnumach
I realize this is alpha-alpha code, but that's rather odd.
Anyway, it wouldn't boot...gets a panic...
