I recently cvs downloaded the gnumach and hurd sources to try to learn more about the hurd. I built and installed gnumach without any trouble. When I build and install the hurd, pfinet doesn't work. I get a translator died message whenever I try to access the network interface (ping, telnet...). How would I go about debugging this? Is there some way for me to turn on debugging? (I am at work now and can't check to see if pfinet has a debug switch).
Is there some way to get gnumach or hurd to dump the device tree? It would be useful to see what hardware the system recognizes. I am starting to get used to grub and will probably switch over to it instead of lilo, soon. Having a boot program that understands the file system so I can probe to see what files are available to boot is very useful. My hardware configuration is Pentium II 233 4 GB IDE (NT 4.0) CD-ROM 2 GB SCSI (Redhat 6.1) 1 GB SCSI jaz (HURD) cable modem I use the Jaz drive to build the hurd, it is a little slow but I can easily pop in another platter and work on something else when the need arises. Thanks Bob
