While compiling rep (to compile sawfish), I got a complaint from libtool:
** Error: readline.la has no associated shared library; ** You may be missing a shared library from: readline ncurses Are there any libtool gurus who know what could be causing this? readline.la reads: # readline.la - a libtool library file # Generated by ltmain.sh - GNU libtool 1.3.5 (1.385.2.206 2000/05/27 11:12:27) # # Please DO NOT delete this file! # It is necessary for linking the library. # The name that we can dlopen(3). dlname='' # Names of this library. library_names='' # The name of the static archive. old_library='readline.a' # Libraries that this one depends upon. dependency_libs=' -lreadline -lncurses' # Version information for readline. current=0 age=0 revision=0 # Is this an already installed library? installed=no # Directory that this library needs to be installed in: libdir='/usr/lib/rep/i386-pc-gnu' I also see lots of complaints about dlopened modules whenever I compile a libtooled program/library; should I be worried about this? Daniel PS - my system is reinstalled now. I uploaded libgmp3 and jade, but not aptitude..I'd like to get a newer apt installed first, and it doesn't build straightforwardly..I need to work out what's going on. -- /-------------------- Daniel Burrows <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --------------------\ | "But what the eagle does not realize is that it is participating in a crude | | form of natural selection.
