I noticed yesterday while doing a lot of stuff on the Hurd (setting up X, compiling wmaker, etc) that the amount of free memory (as shown by vmstat) seemed to be slowly decreasing. At the point that I decided to reboot rather than risk running out, I had 10M left in the "Free" row, running only a single bash shell. (for reference, my computer has 128M of RAM and 256M of swap)
Does something in the Hurd leak memory? I couldn't figure out how to get ps to give me useful info -- it claimed that all processes on the system had a virtual memory size of about 100M, and that all the processes had a total residential size of about 40-50M. I couldn't tell for sure whether the leak was triggered by a particular activity, but I was running apt a lot and compiling a lot of packages; I think that might be related.
