I looked back in the archives of debian-hurd and that was with libdb2, which is no longer used; I don't see anything else in the archives. If there's a problem with man-db's use of libdb3 then please report it to the maintainer (i.e. me), otherwise please avoid db version skew. Since hurd-i386 is one version behind anyway, there should be no need for a binary NMU; just build 2.4.0-11 with whatever's needed to have it use libdb3. Unfortunately, people who have got man-db working at the moment will have to run 'mandb -c' manually after installing the new version in order to rebuild their databases.
