I've just put a shell script in my contrib directory on alpha (gnu/hurd/contrib/jbailey/fixlib.sh) that goes through and makes all of the symlinks relative.
I'll fix it properly in glibc once we get all of the problems sorted out with the released arch's. Tks, Jeff Bailey
