Hey to all, I have successfully installed GNU/Hurd via the iso images. Many thanks to Phillip Charles. The Cook Book was great!
I am just at the console state right now. My iso disk didn't boot because I copied it wrong. I re-burned using the command line method and it worked fine. This time I modified my existing grub from emacs (as opposed to the gui YaST), and that booted just fine. Oh, I copied the entry from the Grub floppy I made from the CD image. Man, that boot floppy was sure sweet as I only had to change my hd and s values. I couldn't find a good version of that file anywhere but the CD, and it was all set up for the task at hand! Very Nice! The native-install went along both times without error. The settrans -fgap /servers/socket/2 /hurd/pfinet -i eth0 -a myip -g gatewayip -m subnetmask command worked straight away. I was successfully pinging my router at the very next prompt. Thanks again to Micheal, Marco, and Phillip Now I will see if I can't kill this computer for good! Ron
