In addition I removed some "printk"- debugging.
Are you quite sure they weren't needed ? I know it might sound strange, but when we first made the patch (I believe you based this on the original patch posted by Ga�l and I ?), we experienced a problem that made the driver work only with debugging printk enabled. We had to add a delay loop somewhere, but I'm not sure we solved all the delay problems.
Of course, there's no good way to check that they weren't needed if the driver works for you. Just for the record, the problem was that pfinet started, but only the first packet got transmitted. So, if you did a ping, you'd get the first echo-reply, but not the others.
