Hi, The latest xorg-x11 packages from unstable now build fine on hurd-i386. However there are two issues:
1. At least on my box, the X server dies on startup due to the keyboard driver not working: (**) Generic Keyboard: Core Keyboard (EE) PreInit failed for input device "Generic Keyboard" (II) UnloadModule: "keyboard" No core keyboard Fatal server error: failed to initialize core devices 2. The debconf setup is broken, it cannot autodetect mouse at first, and then falls over a missing debconf entry, resulting in a zero-byte xorg.conf (#259080). Copying over an XF86Config-4 works, though. The packages are at deb http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/hurd-xorg/ ./ You can revert to xserver-xfree86 (I think you can leave the rest of xorg around) by adding this line to sources.list: deb http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/07/04/debian unstable main contrib non-free and do apt-get install xserver-xfree86 xserver-common=4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 Please test these packages and report whether they work for you. We will have to move to xorg ASAP as more and more package transition to xorg Build-Depends. The buildd has them in his sources.list already. cheers, Michael -- Michael Banck Debian Developer [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.advogato.org/person/mbanck/diary.html -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
