my /etc/fstab holds the following: /dev/hd0 / ext2 rw 1 1 /dev/hd1 none swap sw 0 0 /dev/hd2 /goinfre ext2 rw 2 2 And hd2 is properly scanned by fsck. Maybe you forgot the trailing 2 2 ?
