If it was fvwm, I was able to start on VMware by referring to the following mail though I cannot start xfce4 completely yet. http://lists.debian.org/debian-hurd/2006/11/msg00100.html Why only fvwm was able to be started is not understood though wmaker and ctwm also tested the start to me besides xfce4. However, I am satisfied because the start of X on VMware that is the purpose for which it was originally intended can have reached tentatively.
