I don't what is your objective to install debian gnu/hurd, but if you just want take a look you can install a pre-builded image for qemu from http://ftp.debian-ports.org/debian-cd/hurd-i386/current/. Just choose debian-hurd-k16-qemu.img.tar.gz and launch it with qemu (and would be better first to compile module kqemu for acceleration).
