Hi, After waiting for a long time on updated packages, with patches, to emacs and gdb for GNU/Hurd I think it is time for NMUs.
The patches are minor, but crucial for the function on GNU/Hurd! emacs23.2+1-7: #610576 filed 20 Jan 2011. No response from the maintainer. gdb7.1-1: #579834 filed 30 Apr 2010. No response from the maintainer. Reading the instructions http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/pkgs.html#nmu the requirements for an NMU seems to be fulfilled. Do you need a sponsor for the build and upload? I'm not yet able to sign the packages I build.
