I recently tried to change default encoding to UTF-8. Though it is supposed to be well documented, there are many pitfalls and gotchas, and you often have to search the relevant information throught all the net. So I decided to write this small HOWTO describing how I changed my encoding to UTF-8 and the problems I encountered and solved (or not solved).
