The below bug has been reported against the Debian squirrelmail package.
Internationalization is very important, but I'm myself insufficient
knowledgeable in this area to really know what to do with this bug.
There isn't a new upstream upcoming that implements fixes for this, so
if this is to be fixed in Sarge, it'll be by means of Debian-specific
patching.
I'd appreciate very much an advice on this issue, please see the buglog
for patches and the opinion of one of the Squirrelmail i18n guys, who
seems to know what he's talking about.

I have set my system locale to [EMAIL PROTECTED], like many folks in my area, I
guess. However, German language support in squirrelmail only works if I
choose de_DE as locale (otherwise I only get English). I think
squirrelmail should be more flexible in interpreting locale names or
locale aliases. Other gettext-based packages can do the same.
