they'll use these translations or not.
I will personnally review the French part and see if it fits the
French l10n team use of translation.
But does this mean that people are working on "d-i" translation in
Ubuntu or do they just work on strings that are not used by Debian?
I know that the KLurdish team indeed works in Rosetta for D-I
translation. This is the only case I'm really aware of....and as you
might guess, this is something that I do not intend to encourage.
Do we have a procedure to handle "contrib." translations? I, too, am
unwilling simply to accept any translations from Rosetta, until it
institutes effective QA and access-control processes, integrating
with upstream.
OTOH, I'm very keen to make contact with anyone willing to work on
translations into my language. So I'd see a contribution from another
project, via Rosetta or any other system, as an opportunity to build
new relationships with upstream (in this case, us).
I support the idea of sending any contributed translations to team
leaders for review. Each team can handle this possible resource in
their own way.
And hopefully, once we have our own i18n infrastructure, including a
Pootle web-interface, we can encourage people who use Rosetta (which
takes advantage of some of Pootle's cutting-edge technology) to come
to the source. :)
