Problems with installation

I'm trying to install debian onto a HP i2000 from a CD with the iso 
image, cd-20010810.iso.  I'm new to EFI and not sure if I partitioned 
things correctly.  How should I partition the drive for EFI?  I tried 
making a bootable EFI partition at the beginning of the disk and then I 
tried making the linux partition bootable.  The rest of the installation 
is pretty clear.
