Some information was missing: I had grown the size of the underlying RAID from 200 GB to about 400 GB. After rebooting parted was able to fix the backup partition table but it could not access the space after 200 GB. Now I have made a backup of the data and wiped the partition table with 'mklabel gpt' and now parted can access the full disk. But what happens when I want to grow the RAID next time?
