I've finally found that the seg fault in lxdialog is in code attempting to retrieve some locale info. I suspect the same problem may be causing my problem with KDE.
As root I ran dpkg-reconfigure locales and chose en_US ISO-8859-1 from the list no errors reported then I ran locale-gen with no errors reported After logging out and back in again, I see LANG=en_US in my environment variables but I still have the problem with lxdialog and KDE Is there something else I need to do to get my locale set up properly?
