I'm making some progress installing sarge but now I need to adjust the video. I thought to avoid some hassle by using the driver from XFree86 rather than the binary driver from Nvidia. But the display is shifted to the right and only 2/3 normal height. Before the crash, I did have the Nvidia binary driver and it worked just fine. I have two systems connected to a single monitor through a KVM switch so its important that they both position the display the same so i don't need to adjust at the monitor every time I switch. This was the case before the crash. I did try to use xvidtune but It would not let increase the height of the display though I was able to shift it left closer to the center.
